About Us

Leveraging his expertise in sales management, brand building, product development, and merchandising, Philippe co-founded Tepper Jackson in 2005. The startup, known for its bold graphics and stylized textiles, achieved global distribution and recognition. Currently, Philippe consults with companies across industries assisting them in building a clear, consistent and powerful brand identity.
Marielena grew up immersed in materials and the design process. Whether it was through her mother’s costume, prop or set designs, she was encouraged to have creative freedom in her world. She has a solid 20 year history designing textiles, graphics and product development for both large corporations and startups. In 2014 she started her design studio Pichkari Design and broadened her textile services to include graphics, branding, and surface design for soft and hard goods (home decor, rugs, tabletop, bedding, and wallpaper). Additionally, Marielena teaches graphic design at Seton Hall University and LIM College.

eginnings

Although founded by Marielena and Philippe Andre in 2018, Taktile Design Studio is the culmination of forty years in design, branding and artistry. The most successful design stories tend to be rooted with a certain balance. In collections, we talk about a balanced assortment. In textiles it’s a balanced use of color or motif. In graphics it’s about the balance of copy vs white space. The same is true for a team as a diversity in thought, experience and skills results in a well rounded team; the parts combine to make a whole. It is therefore these diverse traits that led this dynamic husband and wife team to join forces and build Taktile Design Studio.
Philippe has always had a keen eye for details and his passion for the arts and textiles is what anchored their relationship from the start. Through their expanded network of suppliers and domestic manufactures, they’ve supported many startups from product ideation to getting deliverables to market. We believe that we can provide outstanding results and compelling solutions when the process is open, collaborative and agile.

ore Values

“Design affects how we feel, how we behave. Design is a tool to enhance our humanity, it’s a frame for life.” – Ilse Crawford
We love this quote because it embodies our design philosophy. We believe that design is a universal language that helps us bridge boundaries. To decipher this language is to understand how seemingly disjointed elements can be combined to create something cohesively new. From an early age our senses are wired in such a way that we instinctively understand contrast: smooth vs. rough, light vs. dark. Our “tactile” memory continuously plays a powerful role in our lives; it shapes our relationship with materials and how we relate to them. It is through our professional experience that we came to value the importance of “Designing for the Senses”.
Philippe and Marielena started their studio being mindful that good design begins with a conversation. Putting people at the beginning of the process helps us transform our client’s vision into viable products. Our design hub is a collaborative network of creative professionals that work in diverse disciplines (animators, photographers, fashion designers, interior designers, and manufacturers). We leverage their varied skill sets to enhance our ability to offer our full range of services.
